My favorite movie as a kid was Top Gun with Tom Cruise. I loved the roaring jets, the aviator sunglasses, and the iconic music. As a teenager, I was fascinated with engines of all kinds, and could always be found tinkering away in the yard or in the garage with my latest project. When I turned eighteen, I took my first flight lesson. It was love at first flight! It was my very first time EVER being in a plane. There was something about that transition of the wheels of the plane no longer on the ground and moving through the air. I was hooked. I saved as much money as I could and flew about ten hours before finding out I was going to be a dad. Then instead of saving for my next flight lesson, it was diapers and formula.
A little over ten years later, I decided to finish what I started. I had a flight instructor who was young enough to be my son (ok maybe I am exaggerating a little, but he was young!). It was hard to work full time, study and find the time to fly, but I did it! Shortly after getting my private pilot license, I also got my A&P license. That means I am certified to work on all types of aircrafts, and I specialize in engine rebuilds.
Now, I enjoy building engines and troubleshooting issues with planes. The simplicity of aircrafts amaze me and yet completely fascinate me all at the same time! Although I am not roaring through the skies in a fighter jet, I jump into a plane every chance I get. Whether it’s a Cessna 150 or a Cessna 310… flying is flying, and every time I take off, I see something new, learn something new, meet someone new. It’s the same, but different every time and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
